Drawing as a detox

Each of these lessons are based on topics ranging from mural artists to  NFTS or in this case drawing as a form of detox from our digital world.  -


The lesson is based on a video interview with the South African artsit William Kentridge and a written article from BBC culture about the growing interest in drawing and the need to take a break from screens and emails.  

Objective – Discussing the topic of WELLBEING and emotional intelligence relating to artistic expression and understanding.  \ Improve listening comprehension through videos and tasks. 

Class duration – One - 2 hour session \ Number of students – 1 – 4 

The majority of corrections are given in real time during the online class with notes taken and written in the CHAT option in Microsoft teams, google MEET or skype.

Introduction - The videos are short intimate talks from William Kentridge. 

In this video the South African artist talk about the process of drawing again and again on the same page and hwo spending many many hours examining and creating his images give hima sense of REDEMPTION for using peoples suffering to make art. 

What does he mean by this ?  If it were easier to EXECUTE his works would he feel less justified in exhibiting them ?
