All in there were fourteen pieces transported to Barcelona, one large sculpture wall hanging piece ´Blue´ , the pebbledash house with animations and a black plinth , a small resin piece ´among the roses´ and eleven drawings of varying dimensions.
Having the solo exhibition in Dublin, making the work for all these events, the transportation costs and studio and material costs means that at all times I am constantly stretched financially. So for the transporation of the work I had to use any wood I could find in the studio and put it together to make boxes for the sculptures and drawings etc..The boxes also had to be mad well and strong though.I use superior express to look after the transport of the work and they in turn use Red head international. This manner of tranporting work through international freight has enabled me to exhibit at the art fair and hold a large comprehensive show in Madrid last december 2011 and also to make work in Madrid and transport back to my studio in Dublin.On average keeping in the restrictions of (w x d x h) 1.2 x 1 x 2 meters and not exceeding 250kilos on each pallet it costs €240.00 a pallet.
The work has to be packed tightly with all the glass of the drawings taped and the the drawings wrapped in bubble wrap.The boxes are screwed to the pallet base and to each other to restrict movement.All the tools and equipment necessary to assemble and hang the work at the other end had also to be packed after this the boxes are covered in pallet wrap and labeled for Barcelona. I gave the pallet 10 days to arrive although the company said 5 - 7 days.
