Spanish bombs

I am reading about the spanish civil war at the moment I have always had an interest in history and politics, my grandfather was a captain in the IRA during the Irish war of Independance and the civil war immediatly after in the free state army.

But after reading about the spanish civil war I realise it was a very different a much more vicious war.Not so much a civil war as an occupying force of fascists backed by spanish colonial Morrocan forces, Germans and Italians and even on the republican side eventually the republican goverenment were over run by communists. As usual the ordinary working people were pawns in a battle of ideologies played out by the more powerful.

In the book 'The battle for spain'(the spanish civil war 1936-39) - Antony Beevor -
The writer describes how in some bomb factories where the people are forced to make bombs for the fascists and they would the bombs with pamplets of communists slogans so that when they were dropped the bomb would burst open with slogens of martydom for the working man and woman.Visually this really appeals to me, bombs bursting with paper and paper being used to communicate to people .. the comparison also a lead bomb which normally brings such brutal destruction exploding with paper.
