Packing crates for transit.

I have only three days in which to hang this show so as much as possible had to be done before it leaft Ireland. All the drawings are already framed with 2mm glass so the work has to be packed as tightly as possible with all the pictures standing vertically to lessen the risk of damage in transite. The cost of transporting the work by professional art handlers was just way out of my practically non exsistant budget. Due to this I had to look at a more industrial manner of transite which obviously is a bit nerve wracking since there are years upon years of work in this show and there is glass and resin to worry about.

Fourteen separate crates were made with 12mm and 16mm mdf, wooden planks, and some ply.The larger crates have three layers with a 12mm sheet pinned between each layer they are packed horizontally and positioned on the pallet vertically. All the drawing stills are packed vertically into two boxes with a hard foam surround.

The pallet is transported by www.superiorexpress.ie who work through www.redhead-int.com for the transportation in international freight. There are no customes and excise because it is within the EEC. The pallet restrictions are (H x W X D) 2x1.2x1 meter and the total cost of transportation is €195.00 + Vat@ 13.5%.
