The plaster casts were taken from a vina mould made from the original Iron and for the cement casts a 'positive' mould was made from the original 'negative' mould.
I gave the overall form a soft edge to lighten the sculpture.With my sculptures I try apply a sense of drawing rather than heavy sculpting.Sculpture can often look too brutal.There are 140 something pieces to this sculpture and each one is hung individually again giving an overall lighter sense to the piece.I finally finished this piece in august 2010 when I painted the back of the rain drops a kind of torquise colour.
