So art can revitalise and stimulate an environment and breath life again into what was a DEAD SPACE. On the other hand a lot of people would argue that graffiti is just VANDALISM and can destroy a space such as the New York metro in the 1970's. Personally I can understand both sides of the argument, in the seventies it's true that the metro WAGONS looked for the greater part looked awful aesthetically. 



But that in itself is the very reason why that graffiti is ART and not vandalism. There is a truth in the expression, the situation economically, socially and the future for the people who made those MARKINGS was also awful and unconsciously this was projected in the work. It wasn't trying to be PLEASING to the eye it was just BEING.
