Nostalgia ----Definition - The notion of returning    home from the Greek word Nostras suggest a         returning and also sadness.

What is it exactly?  It's difficult to interpret or     does it actually change from country to country   and for age and circumstance?

we feel more nostalgic in the winter, the weather has this EFFECT. The word NOSTALGIA was COINED in the 1760's.

Nostalgia was expressed later by the French writer Marcel Proust as a poignant and pleasant experience after tasting a biscuit \ biskit \ that he had not eaten since he was a child. It brought him back to happy experiences he had had then. ----

poign·ant – [ˈpɔɪnjənt] \ADJECTIVE \ - evoking a keen sense of sadness or regret:

Later with more EMPIRICAL investigation physchologists began to realise that it was less a medical condition but nostalgia CORRELATED with increased feelings of wellbeing.

cor·rel·ation - [ˌkɒrəˈleɪʃ(ə)n] - NOUN - a mutual relationship or connection between two or more things:

Marketing and the advertisement industry how powerful nostalgia can be pulling people into it's LURE especially during the FESTIVITIES of Christmas, Easter or the summer holidays. To times where we felt there was more security ALTHOUGH more than likely it wasn't the case.

THE THIRD CONDITIONAL –

Remember there are two parts 1 – THE IMAGINED PAST, the RESULT. --- IF + PAST PERECT< would , might, could + PRESENT PERFECT >When you look at old photos You might think of how you would have DONE something differently . ---

REGRET -- If I had not travelled so much , I might have seen more of my kids.

EXAMPLE – After laying off more than 50,000 employees, Kodak filed for bankruptcy protection in 2012

If kodak had released the digital camera .... they WOULD have been AT THE FOREFRONT of the pixel revolution.

NOTE --- it's not a certainty .... THEY MIGHT HAVE BEEN is better.

1. Google fails to Excite – ‘Excite’ was offered the chance to buy Google for just $750,000 in the late 1990s. They declined.

 2. Blockbusters spurns Netflix – In 2000 Blockbusters turned down the chance to purchase a small ‘mail-order’ internet start-up called ‘Netflix’ for $50 million. In 2013, they closed their doors forever.

 3. A Kodak moment to forget – In 1975, Kodak's successfully built the world's first digital camera but conservative forces within the company stalled the release of a digital camera. By the time Kodak finally shifted to digital in the late 1990s, the megapixel revolution had long passed it by. After laying off more than 50,000 employees, Kodak filed for bankruptcy protection in 2012.

 4. And your hair's weird, too. In 1962, the Beatles auditioned at the London office of Decca Records. The executive in charge of talent rejected them and he told Brian Epstein, their manager, "We don't like your boys' sound. Groups are out; four-piece groups with guitars particularly are finished.

 5. "UK publishing industry fails divination – in the 1990s almost the entire publishing industry famously failed to judge the marketability of the world’s most famous wizard. Twelve publishers turned down J.K. Rowling’s submission for ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ before Bloomsbury finally took a chance on the risky project. The Harry Potter franchise is worth $25 billion

----- As stated above Nostalgia correlated with increased feeling of WELLBEING and for this it is an attractive strategy in marketing and fashion .
